Power to the Woman

Since the beginning of United States history women have been involved. During colonial times women were seen as house keeper, and child bearers. Education was not seen as a necessity for women and the only thing they needed to learn was the Bible. As the country progressed so did the role of women.

               In the Beginning
During the Revolutionary War women were not allowed to join that army, but Deborah Sampson disguised herself as a man in order to join the 4th Massachusetts Regiment using the name of Robert Shurtliff.

          During the Revolutionary War
Abigail Adams, the second First Lady of the United States, had told her husband, John Adams, to "Remember the Ladies"while writing the Constitution. Even though her husband did not really listen to her, this one of the most famous quotes from one of the earliest prominent women in the United States.

            During World War II
When men were over seas fighting the war, they left their jobs behind. In the north there were many factory jobs open, so what did women do? Of course they took advantage of those openings, but when the men came home many women gave those jobs up. Personally I would have kept the job simply because I would be bored not doing anything or so long. After getting a sense of what life could be like, and what it is like outside of the home, I would never go back to being a housekeeper.

          In the 1970's
Phyllis Schlafly was named one of 100 Most Important Women of the 20th Century by Ladies Home Journal. Schlafly, as you could guess, was a feminist in the 1970's. She wrote 20 books about feminism and family. She founded the Eagle Forum which is a volunteer organization that promotes family.

Now a days women have all the same rights as men. There are equal voting rights, equal pay, and laws a against sex discrimination. Thank God for those law because otherwise I would be very upset.
The women who had done marches and protested really changed the way all women live now.
I guess that's the way it is no matter what you look at in history, but women (more so blacks) had to fight hard for equality.
GIRLS RULE! :)

First Post EVER

So this is different.
Never in my life did I think I would have a blog or be forced to make a blog. I suppose it's better when you know what you are supposed to be talking about and not having to come up with something, but it still sucks as of now.
But I will thank Mr. Ketterhagen for making me try something new:)
And as of now I have nothing else to say.
